At the heart of Seattle Audubon's Conservation Program is the Conservation Committee,
comprised of two staff members and approximately 20 dedicated volunteers. This
committee is the locus for planning, evaluation, and action on conservation issues
within the organization. In a nutshell, the Conservation Committee evaluates and
makes policy recommendations to the Seattle Audubon Board of Directors on conservation issues,
and takes action on behalf of wildlife and habitat.
Two staff members provide overall coordination and direction for the
Conservation Committee and Conservation Program:
Alex focuses on regional and national issues, such as protection of forest ecosystems, promotion
of Shade Coffee, and defense of birds at risk.
In addition to members of the Conservation Committee, the Conservation Program also includes another 45+ volunteers who participate
as needed to support
broader education and conservation activities.
