What does coffee have to do with birds? Plenty!
In the mid-elevations of Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and Colombia, most of the forests still standing are in traditional coffee plantations. These provide the last refuge for birds that have lost their habitat to the vast destruction of tropical forests. Each purchase of shade coffee makes a difference. Visit our Coffee and Birds page to find out more.
Seattle Audubon Society's Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign recognizes the important role of coffee in preserving healthy forest habitat. If you are interested in volunteering with Seattle Audubon's Conservation Campaigns, learn how you can get involved!
