Leader Profile: Geenaert
Tracee Geernaert
Field Trip Leader
Master Birder

Tracee became a Master Birder in 1995, and has led field trips to Marrowstone Island, Big Four, Nisqually, and Eastern Washington. Birding trips to the varied habitats of Eastern Washington are some of her favorites, perhaps because they remind her of the Southern Okanogan where she grew up. Originally from Penticton, B.C., Tracee reports that the area is a mecca for birds and birders, especially in the late spring.

When she is not leading field trips, Tracee is a biologist for the International Pacific Halibut Commission. She sees hundreds of sea birds in her time at sea in Alaska for the commission. "My field trips are fairly laid-back," she comments. "I concentrate primarily on the birds so the trips are good for novice birders and others who want to learn about birds but aren't driven to check off the highest number of species."
