Leader Profile: Pritzl
Pam Pritzl
Field Trip Leader

Pam is a Washington native who became interested in birding around 1980. A research tech retired from the University of Washington, she has lived on Camano Island for nine years. Her life-long interest in the natural world was fine-tuned in Dennis Paulson’s Birds of Washington class as well as Bud Anderson’s hawk class.

When she leads field trips, Pam prefers parking the cars and birding on foot so participants can observe the whole habitat including birds, plants, insects, and animals. "I’ve always especially enjoyed watching woodpeckers - they have an amazing tongue!" exclaims Pam.

Two of her favorite destinations for field trips are Iverson Spit on Camano Island, and Big Four Meadows and the ice caves near Verlot. "In a two-mile hike at Big Four you can explore great mountain habitat with the river, marsh, and woods," she comments. "The thing I like most about leading field trips is introducing people to special places."
