Dennis Paulson, "Bird Migration: Who Does it and Why?"
One of the surest ways to know that Spring is on the way is the return of migratory birds. The Northwest is home to so many of these birds, and we hope you will join us as Dennis Paulson gives his lecture on bird migration. This talk will focus on Pacific Northwest Birds, why they leave this area, where they go, and what they have to contend with while away. Many head to California, others go as far as the southern tip of South America and even Antarctica.
Dennis Paulson is an Author, Professor Emeritus and Master Birder.
He is the world's foremost expert on dragonflies and has authored many books, including Shorebirds of the Pacific Northwest, Dragonflies of Washington and most recently, Dragonflies and Damselflies of the West. His intelligent, humble and often humorous interpretation of the natural history of Washington's birds is refreshing, and what makes his lectures so fun and informative.
This membership meeting is open to the public at REI Downtown. 222 Yale Ave N. Doors open at 6, meeting at 6:30pm.
