Membership Meeting with Alan Bauer
Thursday, September 16th, 6-9pm
Join us on Thursday September 16th at our membership meeting with guest Alan Bauer, as we kick off the Fall seaon. Alan is a professional freelance photographer specializing in the natural history of the Pacific Northwest. He is a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, having grown up on a large family farm in Oregon's Willamette Valley and has lived in Washington state for the past 22 years. He will share his knowledge of great local day hikes, fantastic birding spots, and where to go in the Northwest during the autumn months. Seattle Audubon Membership Meetings are held at REI downtown, 222 Yale Ave N. Doors open at 6 with refreshments and the program begins at 6:30. All are welcome.

Nikon Birding Weekend
Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26th
Saturday, Sept. 25 offers Optics Through a Birder’s Eyes from 10 to 11am Mike will present some key points to increase your skills tenfold with helpful insights into many simple and helpful clues to advance your understanding of binoculars and spotting scopes for your enjoyment in the field.
Then from 12-2pm join Mike, Nature Shop staff and representatives from Kenmore Camera for an Advanced Optics Seminar and Practicum, with the focus on digiscoping. The first part will be classroom discussion, followed by field practice in the Union Bay Natural Area. Come prepared with scopes, cameras and appropriate Fall attire.
Special prices, refreshments, door prizes and raffles for binoculars too!

Sunday, Sept. 26: Meet at Seattle Audubon at 7am for a field tip to the Skagit. Expect to have expert help with binoculars and scopes while viewing raptors, passerines and shorebirds. Return early afternoon. Please call The Nature Shop to sign up. Space is limited.
Volunteer Orientation

Join us for a Volunteer Orientation to learn about the many opportunities to volunteer for the environment and learn more about birds. We will discuss Seattle Audubon history and provide an overview of our programs and volunteer opportunities.
