Jr. Naturalist In Training

FAQ & Downloads

Seattle Audubon's Junior Naturalist-in-training program provides volunteer leadership opportunities at Nature Camp for high school teens entering 10th - 12th grade. Junior Naturalists work closely with staff Naturalists to teach about birds and nature. They help supervise campers, lead games, songs, read stories, and lead at least one theme activity per week.

Junior Naturalists devote at least one full week of summer, but may do several if available. Orientation is provided prior to the first week of camp. This year we are offereing an internship opportunity for high schoolers entering 11th grade or higher! The application process is rolling; we will accept Jr. Naturalists throughout the summer if positions remain available!

To be eligible, teens must:

  • be entering the 10th grade or higher for volunteer Jr.Naturalist position; 11th grade or higher for the paid intership position.
  • have an interest in nature and children,
  • pass an application and screening process.
