The Seattle Audubon Science Committee is proud to announce Sound to Sage, an atlas of the breeding birds of King, Kitsap, Island, and Kittitas Counties. The result of over 10,000 hours of field surveying by more than 300 “citizen science” volunteers, Sound to Sage presents maps and accounts of the nesting occurrence of 213 species of birds in a four-county, 5,000-square-mile swath of Washington extending from the shores of Puget Sound across the Cascade Range to the sagebrush lands adjoining the Columbia River.

The new atlas provides updated information for land-use planners, decision-makers, researchers, and everyone interested in critical habitats of Washington birds. These maps are modeled after the original publication, Breeding Birds of Washington State, released in 1997 by Seattle Audubon as Vol. 4 in the Washington State Gap Analysis.
