Strategic Plan - Our goals for 2008-2010

Birds at Risk: Protect the birds of our region whose habitats are at risk. By 2010, Seattle Audubon will accomplish the following strategic goals:
  • Complete 3 campaigns
  • Refine and systematize the campaign evaluation process to capture lessons learned from past efforts and increase the chances of success for future campaigns

Stewardship and Sustainability: Foster environmental stewardship and sustainable lifestyles among our members and the general public; enhance sustainability in Seattle Audubon's operations. By 2010, Seattle Audubon will accomplish the following strategic goals:

  • Provide classroom and experiential learning opportunities for ages 3-103 for the purpose of creating environmentalists and mobilizing community activism around birds at risk
  • Create specific examples of environmental stewardship for the public and other organizations by implementing changes to the physical plant and actively communicating these improvements to the community at large
  • Identify and implement operational practices that will reduce our carbon footprint in keeping with National Audubon's target for nature centers

Organization Effectiveness Upgrade: Increase our effectiveness by better understanding our role in the environmental community and by strengthing our organization's underlying systems and procedures. By 2010, Seattle Audubon will accomplish the following strategic goals:

  • Institute a program evaluation process and complete an evaluation of every major Seattle Audubon program, so that limited resources are allocated effectively among competing priorities
  • Initiate a communications strategy and infrastructure, in order to make ourselves a stronger voice for the environment in our community
  • Align the organization internally to ensure that human, organizational and monetary resources are leveraged effectively across programs and campaigns.
