Seattle Audubon established the NextGen Advisory Council in the fall of 2018, to elevate the perspectives and expertise of young professionals and student activists in our work for birds and nature in the city. As a 100-year old organization, Seattle Audubon has a rich history of conservation achievements, but our programs have not always catered or appealled to diverse audiences. This is not the Seattle Audubon of the future. We’re in the middle of a four-year strategic plan, which focuses on intentional collaboration with communities that have felt justifiably excluded by the mainstream environmental movements of the past. The NextGen Advisory Council is one part of these efforts.
The council is currently recruiting new members, seeking to fill a maximum of 11 seats for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The council meets regularly, currently on the third Thursday of every month from 7–8:30 p.m.
